“Share the story of a time you felt unsafe.
Photographers, artists, poets: show us SAFETY.”
Long ago, I had a fun (and meaningful) experience of working for a great organization that specialized in making people happy by giving them fun memories. I had co-workers I enjoyed working with and supervisors who were good with people. The job was fun and the bosses treated us well. The organization really tried to make us feel valued by offering us incentives of various sorts and boosting morale in different ways.
Eventually, the company changed hands but kept its same focus and clientele. The second owner made some policy adjustments in many areas. For department meetings, it became a requirement that every meeting started with “Safety First.”
Maybe it was just me (I don’t think it was), but it seemed to get a laugh out of people that these words were spoken verbatim at the start of every meeting. But it was nice to know that the company took safety seriously and cared about the well-being of its people.
