Amish Christmas at North Star: Book Review

Four babies entered the world on a winter night under the guidance of Amish midwife Rebekah. Where they are now unfolds through the four novellas under the title Amish Christmas at North Star.

Guiding Star by Katie Ganshert was a story that I truly enjoyed. Schoolteacher Elle McAllister and Englishman Chase Wellington have coffee at one point during this story, which made me wonder- why wasn’t this story longer? I wanted to find out if these two characters would get together. There were enough details, but not too much. This was a good story.

Mourning Star by Amanda Flower was another enjoyable story. Amish girl Eden Hochstetler has a special friendship with an elderly gentleman named Isaac. After his disappearance, a number of questions arise. I would have enjoyed reading more from this author and getting to know more about these characters’ lives.

In the Stars by Cindy Woodsmall centered on a conflict between two characters. It was difficult to understand their actions, and how the story was actually explained had me confused at times. This story lacked momentum.

Star of Grace by Mindy Starns Clark and Emily Clark was the final story, but it didn’t finish with a flourish. This one didn’t earn enough of my attention to keep me reading until its end.
