How YOU doin’?

Why so serious? He wants to know how YOU doin’?

February is almost here, so how are your New Year’s resolutions going?

If you’re like most people, you might have fallen off the wagon, or maybe you’ve even forgotten what you resolved to do in the first place!

That’s why I typically don’t make resolutions – the very nature of a resolution is a set-up for failure. You get excited, you set a high aspiration for something that you probably didn’t think much about , and then you don’t follow through on it because you really didn’t think through if it meant something to you in the first place.

Which is why I usually DON’T make resolutions. I do, however, usually like to make goals at the start of a new year. I like reflecting on the fresh start that I feel at the end of December. It’s like a chance to dust off the old and start new. I like to sit down and really think about what some potential goals might be. But they have to really excite me, and they have to be things that I have a realistic chance of accomplishing. No set-ups for failure. At least, nothing that looks like a set-up for failure. I have to see a realistic path for making them come true. No goals just for the sake of having a goal. I want something I can come back to and say “I did it!”

This year, my goal list was small. What about yours? Have you fallen off the wagon, or are you going strong?

  1. Since mine were faith-related and not drastic, I’ve mostly kept them up, although I might have to start setting my alarm earlier to succeed at praying before getting up every day, haha.
