Halloween is in just a couple days- have you made your plans? Don’t let the costs catch you off guard and create a scary surprise! Just like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or any other holiday, Halloween can make a sizable dent in the budget, even though it always happens the same time every year. The price of those bulk candy packages isn’t getting any cheaper, yet the price of each serving seems to grow smaller each year. Costumes can get expensive and so can decorations.

However, if you’re resourceful, you can find some ways to cut the costs without cutting the fun.

There are a number of ways you can save money on all the expenses associated with Halloween. Check out some tips here on how to save money on Halloween.

Fall is the Perfect Time

The leaves are changing and so is the temperature. Summer has departed and there’s a crisp chill in the air. It isn’t too cold and it isn’t too warm. It’s officially sweater weather, time to cuddle with a hot beverage, a movie, and your favorite pet. Fall is the perfect time to just be, and enjoy.

Just as nature ushers in changes in our physical environment, so too we can welcome in changes when the seasons change. You don’t have to wait until New Year’s Eve to make a New Year’s Resolution of changing your life. Fall is the perfect time to tweak some things in your home, your office, or even your car to make things go just a little smoother.

This week, carve out a few minutes, or even just a few seconds to:

  • Throw away a few papers you’ve already read and don’t need anymore
  • Throw away political junk mail (you probably know who you’re voting for, if you’re voting, and if undecided, there’s still time to research it online)
  • Write “RTS” (meaning “return to sender”) on the junk paper mail that just keeps coming that doesn’t stop. This is for the businesses you want nothing to do with, have never had anything to do with, and will never have anything to do with. After you’ve written “RTS” on the mailing, stick it back in your mailbox, and the postman will take it back to the nuisance business it came from. It will be gone out of your life!

And there you have it – three fast tips for fall, because fall is truly the perfect time to make some tiny changes before winter makes its quick descent upon us.
